Abu Dhabi historical landmarks to be completed in 2025

Saadiyat Cultural District is set to become a cultural powerhouse by 2025, with the completion of its historical and cultural landmarks, including the Zayed National Museum and the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi. Alongside these highly anticipated museums, architectural marvels such as teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi are also taking shape on the island.

Over the years, Saadiyat Cultural District has become a beacon of cultural diversity. This transformation began with the establishment of iconic landmarks like Louvre Abu Dhabi, the first universal museum in the Arab world. The Abrahamic Family House offers a unique space for education, conversation, and religious observance, while Berklee Abu Dhabi provides music, performing arts, and educational programs. Manarat Al Saadiyat serves as a hub for creative artistic expression, hosting events like Abu Dhabi Art and Culture Summit Abu Dhabi.

Visitors to the district can witness the emerging structures, such as the Zayed National Museum, whose narrow glass atriums resemble the wing tips of a falcon, a national symbol of UAE heritage. This museum will celebrate the nation’s rich history and culture and honor the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s founding father.

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi will focus on art from the 1960s to the present, highlighting significant artistic achievements. Additionally, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi will offer visitors an ever-changing exploration that transcends the limits of imagination.

The 35,000sqm Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, poised to be the largest of its kind in the region, will include a research and teaching institution that guides visitors through a 13.8 billion-year journey of the universe and our planet.

Addressing local and international journalists, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT – Abu Dhabi), emphasized that Saadiyat Cultural District embodies ‘cultural hope.’

“The District will convey a message of cultural diversity that will become more powerful over time, creating global connections, inspiring cultural exchange, and fostering new ways of thinking to support the region, the global South, and the world. Saadiyat Cultural District is somewhere people can come to learn from the past, understand our present, and focus on our future,” Al Mubarak said.

The department also launched a campaign film titled ‘Be Moved in a Thousand Ways,’ delivering an inspirational message on the transformative power of culture to unite, inspire, and open minds.
